Alabama linebacker has LSU in Top-3 after spring game visit

Mobile (Ala.) Murphy HS four-star linebacker Kendric Haynes is no stranger to the LSU campus and he spent Saturday watching the Tigers spring game cementing LSU's position in his top three.

"It wasn't my first time or anything but I enjoyed the game," Haynes joked about the visit. "I liked it a lot and I spoke with coach Peveto and coach Craig who is my recruiter and they let me know that they want me to come back down in June and that they need a lot of linebackers that can come in and play right away."

Haynes will be a December graduate and he has three schools he is focused on right now, but he is worried about the status of two of the coaches.

"My top three schools are South Carolina, LSU and Auburn, but I know coach Miles is on the hot seat and coach Malzahn at Auburn is too, coach Muschamp at South Carolina is too new to be in trouble yet though," he said. "I want to see what happens with them this season before I make any decisions so that is tough."

As far as what he is looking for goes, Haynes says it is the right mixture of comfort and a chance to compete right away.

"I'm going in January so I want to be able to have the opportunity to compete for playing time and distance doesn't matter to me either, every one of my favorite schools has the same chance right now," he said.

Summer visits will be key for Haynes because he will have to scramble some for official visits prior to the December dead period. He said he will hit all three of his finalists again.

"I'm planning to go up to South Carolina on April 30th to check it out and then to LSU in June and back to Auburn at some other point," he said.

Haynes is the 11th rated inside linebacker in the country and the 13th ranked player in the state of Alabama. As a junior in ten games, Haynes racked up 114 tackles and 8 sacks.
